Explanation of Key Terms

WHM (Web Host Manager)

Admin panel for resellers. From WHM you create packages, cPanel accounts, and monitor resources. Read the introduction: What is cPanel/WHM Reseller?.

cPanel

Panel for clients (website owners). Manage files, databases, email, domains, SSL—see cPanel Guide and What is cPanel.

White Label & Private Nameservers

Your brand appears as a provider; use private nameserver (e.g. ns1.brandanda.com). Next: Nameserver & DNS.

WHMCS (Billing & Automation)

Software for billing automation, cPanel provisioning, suspend/unsuspend, renewal notifications. Alternatives exist, but WHMCS is most common in the cPanel/WHM ecosystem.

Overselling

Selling logical allocations above the real average capacity usage. Safe if:

  • There is a clear fair-use policy
  • Monitoring CPU/RAM/IO running
  • Avoid aggressive allocation without usage data

CloudLinux / LVE Limits (CPU/RAM/IO/EP/Inodes)

Technical limits per account to maintain shared server stability. Educate clients if they are approaching the limit so that they can optimize or upgrade. See also: cPanel Email for IP reputation impact & email limits.

Backup & Security

Understand backup retention (daily/weekly), ease of restore, as well as DDoS protection and security like Imunify

  2. See: Backup cPanel and Install SSL cPanel.

SL

A & UptimeRead the availability promise (e.g. 99.9%) along with compensation and exclusions. Compare providers at: Reseller Hosting Directory Hosting Reseller Directory.

Tip: unify client onboarding SOPs (cPanel access, email, backup, SSL) so that support load remains under control and the client experience is consistent.
