Kenceng Solusindo Review

Kenceng Solusindo is one of four new providers that I reviewed in 2021. They are still relatively new players in the industry web hosting Indonesia.

It was only founded in 2016 and is headquartered in Mojokerto, East Java.

They claim to have thousands of customers, although they don't state exactly how many thousands.

What does Kenceng Solusindo do?

I like the brand name of this provider, Kenceng Solusindo, it seems like they want to instill a perception in their new customers that they are a fast hosting solution.

Good perception cultivation I think.

On the front page of their website, they say they use the latest hardware, the latest generation servers to guarantee the quality of their services. Is this true? In my review, in the “Personal M” hosting package that I reviewed, they used:

• Dual Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2658 v2
• 128GB DDR3 RAM
• SATA SSD for Data Storage
• and NVMe SSD for DatabaseBased on the specifications, I don't think this device is in the latest category. Supposedly, the ideal device currently uses the latest model CPU with a frequency of more than 3.0GHz. However, this device still uses a 2013 model CPU, which is around 11 years old.

Apart from that, just like all the other providers I reviewed, they also use Litespeed Webserver which may be preferred by more users, especially WordPress users.

And to find out what the quality of Kenceng Solusindo is, I bought the “Personal M” package, then:

1. I installed a WordPress blog
2. I monitor server uptime and also test the speed
3. I also tested the quality of the support service

So the results of this review can help you answer important questions: Is Kenceng Solusindo the right hosting provider for you?

I will discuss it quite fully in this review.

Summary of Research Data

Advantages of using Kenceng Solusindo

I will discuss their advantages one by one, starting from the average server response speed.

1. The average server response time is the fastest in load testing

What is load testing?

Through this test, you will find out how the server responds when receiving many visitors entering your website at the same time.

The ideal is that website speed does not decrease or remains stable either when the first visitor comes, or when the 5th, 10th, 25th or even 100th visitor comes.

How to measure it? Namely by carrying out load testing. I used the Locust.io tool and used VPS server Singapore location in this test.

And also please note that I did not apply caching at all to the Kenceng Solusindo test website. That means, purely just to test the server's strength.

*(that means, if you use caching, you will get much more stable performance than if you don't, but the purpose of this test is to measure server performance and compare it with servers on other providers). *

So, using the tool Locust.io, I sent 10 virtual users to my Kenceng Solusindo test website.

Here's the test graph:

In load testing, what you need to pay attention to is the response time. In the graph above:

• Response time in green (green line),
• Meanwhile, the number of virtual users is colored blue
• And the red color shows the number of requests/second.
• Meanwhile, the yellow color indicates failure. It is not visible, because there was no failure in this test.

As I explained previously, the ideal is that the server response time remains stable or does not slow down whether there is only one visitor (or virtual user) coming, or when it is busy, such as 10 visitors online at the same time.

However, from the graph above, we can see that the server response time actually gets slower as the number of virtual users increases. Based on my experience in carrying out load testing for several years, this phenomenon is normal in the shared hosting. Only a few appear to still be stable, such as the load testing test Dewabiz in 2023. If you pay attention to the average response time, it is only 815.95 ms. This is the fastest of all the providers I tested in 2024. Compared to the 2023 test, Kenceng Solusindo's average response time increased significantly from 1473.95 ms. I think they have made adjustments to their servers to improve their performance.

2. Fastest Support Service in Handling Customer Website Errors

To find out the quality of support services from Kenceng Solusindo, I did a test. Just like testing at all other providers, the testing I carried out was technical.

3. Fair Hosting Prices

At Kenceng Solusindo, whether you subscribe to hosting on an annual basis, six months, three months or even monthly, the price will remain the same.

They don't play any price games to force consumers to choose a longer hosting rental duration to get a cheaper price.

You are free to choose, all prices are the same.

So, it is a very suitable choice for you with any budget.

Not many providers offer fair prices like Kenceng Solusindo. In my notes, the Dracoola is also like that. The difference is that at Dracoola you will get 2 months of free hosting if you choose to subscribe annually.

However, at Kenceng Solusindo you will get a greater number of hosting resources than Dracoola, which I will discuss in the fifth point below.

4. Provides more than sufficient hosting resources on the cheapest package

On the cheapest hosting package, namely the "Personal M" package at a price of IDR 16,000, you will get:

1. 750 MB disk space
2. 1 CPU & 1 GB memory
3. 5 domains (wow!)
4. Litespeed cache
5. Litespeed web server
6. Unlimited bandwidth, database and email accounts
7. Weekly backupsWhat Kenceng Solusindo offers is more than almost all other providers + at prices that are affordable.

5. Overall Average Uptime Stable Until Mid-2024

Kenceng Solusindo itself guarantees uptime of only 99%.

Honestly 99% is a very poor uptime guarantee. 99% means that your website will be down for at least 7 hours, 18 minutes and 17 seconds in one month.

The minimum standard for good average uptime is 99.90%.

The difference is only 0.9%, right? But did you know that this difference of only 0.9% when calculated in the uptime calculator is a very big difference. Where 99.90% uptime is your website will be down for 43 minutes and 49 seconds.

The difference is more than 6 hours.

Can you imagine how much potential income is lost because of the difference of more than 6 hours? :)

So, what will Kenceng Solusindo's average uptime be in 2024?

The average uptime is actually not that good, namely 98.49%. However, if we look at the average uptime from month to month in 2024, they only experienced one disruption, namely in April 2024. The rest is very stable. Therefore, I included this as an advantage point in this Kenceng Solusindo review update.

Uptime monitoring data before 2024:> Note: Kenceng Solusindo is carrying out server maintenance in December 2021, due to a disruption in their datacenter server. This results in the connection to the hosting server being interrupted and inaccessible.

Challenges in monitoring Indonesian provider uptime? We found international connection problems several times at several providers such as Dapur Hosting and Dewabiz when checking or inspecting. This disruption may have occurred on the Kenceng Solusindo server. We can't know unless we do an audit. What are the consequences of this disorder? Our monitoring tool that uses international servers will assume that the Kenceng Solusindo server located in Indonesia is down, even though it can still be accessed normally from Indonesia. This means our uptime data is not 100% accurate, we truly apologize for this limitation.

By the way, Kenceng Solusindo itself has a service status page where you can see the status of your server (up or down).

Disadvantages of Using Kenceng Solusindo

At this point, it is not surprising if you think that Kenceng Solusindo is a good best hosting] choice for several reasons already mentioned such as:

• Hosting prices are quite competitive,
• Fair and non-harmful guarantee rules,
• And supported by a fairly reliable support service.

However, there are several things you need to underline before you decide whether Kenceng Solusindo is the right choice for you.

1. Changes to Kenceng Solusindo's Refund Policy: No More Guarantees for Customers

I was quite surprised when Kenceng Solusindo changed their refund policy. Initially, they have a very fair policy of offering a 30-day unconditional refund guarantee. This means that users can submit claims for any reason, and the terms also benefit customers who subscribe to hosting on a monthly basis.

However, after checking their service rules page on September 25, 2024, it turns out they have changed the policy to make it seem like there is no warranty at all! Why? Because the refund policy is now very unfair.

Customers are only allowed to request a refund if there is an error in the nominal transfer, double sending, and only for transactions carried out through BCA bank. What does it mean? This is the same as no guarantee, because a guarantee should be given for reasons of customer dissatisfaction with the product, not just because of a transfer error.

2. The Backup Feature Has Limitations

Unfortunately, the backup feature in Kenceng Solusindo has several shortcomings, including:

1. The website will be backed up once a week. The ideal is to backup daily.
2. You cannot access the backups account directly. If you want a backup file, you have to request it from the Administrator via a ticket which takes more time.
3. Not using automatic backup features such as Acronis Backup or JetBackup where customers can carry out backup and restore activities with just 1-2 clicks.

3. Too Many Choices in Business Hosting Packages

Kenceng Solusindo divides its shared hosting package into 10 packages.

• 3 Personal Packages
• 4 Business Packages, and
• 3 Platinum Packages

In my opinion, the number of packages is too many and not flexible. In my opinion, you don't need a package above the "Business M" package.

If your website really requires a lot of resources, where 3 GB CPU and 3 RAM are not enough or are often stuck or full of usage, then it is better for you to choose VPS hosting with a certain amount of resources and with hardware specifications that are more powerful.

If you can't manage VPS, you can use RunCloud + VPS provider like Digital Ocean, UpCloud, Vultr or Linode. I'm sure it will:

• More powerful

• Cheaper* compared to some options in the business and platinum packages

• Dedicated resources, except CPU (still shared)

• Dedicated IP

• Supports OpenLiteSpeed + LSCache

• Also supports Nginx Web Server + FastCGI Cache

• Completely up-to-date hardware

Summary of Kenceng Solusindo Hosting Packages and Other Information You Need to Know

Summary of hosting package offers

Kenceng Solusindo has three types of products, namely shared cloud hosting, reseller hosting and email hosting.

In their shared cloud hosting packages, they divide the packages very widely. There are 10 packages in total, as I explained in the fourth point about the shortcomings of Kenceng Solusindo. Too many and inflexible.

Other important information:

• Server options: Jakarta and Singapore

• Control package used: cPanel control panel

• Free domain: If you buy a minimum of the "Personal L" package with a duration of 1 year

• Free Hosting migration: Yes

• Application installation (WordPress, Joomla, Drupal, etc.): Can be installed with just 1 click using the tool from Softaculous which is already available in cPanel.

Do We Recommend Kenceng Solusindo To You?

Among all the providers I reviewed, Kenceng Solusindo is one of my favorites. Here are some reasons:

1. Based on support testing in mid-2024, their support service shows a very positive trend. The speed in replying to tickets and handling website error corrections was recorded as the fastest among all the providers I reviewed.
2. The prices offered are relatively cheap and fair. They apply consistent prices, unlike other providers who seem to force consumers to choose more expensive packages to get more affordable prices.
3. Average overall uptime is stable, although there was one failure recorded in April 2024 (uptime far below what they promised).

However, it should be noted that Kenceng Solusindo has shortcomings in terms of features. They do not offer as many features as hosting providers such as Jagoan Hosting and IdCloudHost, especially when it comes to backup services.

Additionally, they also don't offer a refund guarantee anymore. So, keep this in mind, you might want to just subscribe to hosting on a monthly basis considering they have a fair pricing structure.
