From a review blog to a hosting ecosystem
We started as a simple hosting review blog. Today, Penasihat Hosting is a complete platform that supports you at every stage: from learning hosting basics, choosing the right provider, to checking and debugging servers with free tools.
An honest evolution
In 2016, Penasihat Hosting began as a simple affiliate-style hosting blog. Our focus was mostly on provider reviews, blog posts, and pricing comparisons. At that time, that was enough.
Over time, we realized one thing: readers do not only need a list of “best hosting” recommendations. They need a fuller understanding, from technical basics and step-by-step tutorials to a better way to compare real provider data and server choices.
That is why we evolved. No longer just a review blog, but a broader hosting ecosystem that combines:
Not just a list of provider names. Each provider profile includes practical details such as package specs, pricing, promos, and server location context so readers can filter options more realistically.
Step-by-step guides for beginners and technical wiki content for developers. From “What is DNS?” to “How to set up SSL on a VPS”.
35 free tools such as SSL Checker, DNS Lookup, and uptime monitoring that are practical for debugging and quick checks without requiring a paid subscription.
Still part of our work. We continue to review providers in depth with longer observation windows, real uptime data, and transparent methodology.
“We do not want to be just another review blog. We want to become the place where Indonesian readers can learn, choose, and manage hosting with more confidence.”
What we offer now
1Hosting directory
More than 138 providers (local and international) with complete data: package specs, monthly pricing, server locations, and active promos. Filter by category (Shared, VPS, Cloud, Dedicated) or data center location (Jakarta, Singapore, USA).
2Review research
We truly buy and use every hosting service we review for at least 3-6 months. Uptime data, speed tests (TTFB), and support quality are measured with professional tools such as Uptimia and Locust.io.
3Guides and learning paths
From “How to choose a domain and hosting” to “How to install WordPress in cPanel” - step-by-step guides that are easy to follow even for complete beginners. We currently have 22+ guides and chapters.
4Hosting wiki
A technical hosting glossary. What is DNS? How does SSL/TLS work? What is the difference between Shared and VPS? Detailed explanations that are still easy to understand. We currently have 14+ wiki articles.
5Free tools
SSL Certificate Checker, DNS Lookup, Website Uptime Monitor, Password Generator, and 31 more tools. All are free, require no registration, and are ready to use.
Business Model: Full Transparency
Let us be direct: Penasihat Hosting is a business. We make money in a few different ways, and readers deserve to know that clearly.
Our revenue sources:
- ①Affiliate commissions: If you buy hosting through our links, we may earn a commission from the provider. This does not add extra cost for you.
- ②Premium directory tiers: Providers can upgrade for higher visibility inside the directory.
- ③Sponsored placements: Providers may place clearly labeled advertising or sponsored visibility units on certain surfaces.
- ④Optional submission fees: A provider may pay to accelerate submission workflow, but not to buy a positive conclusion.
Review independence guarantee
Reviews and quality judgments are not for sale. If a provider performs poorly, we will say so, regardless of whether they pay for visibility or not. Uptime, speed, and support response findings come from our own research process.
Transparency note: sponsored or premium visibility can affect listing position in certain directory contexts, but it does not rewrite review content or quality scoring.
Principles We Work By
Data Over Opinion
Every recommendation should be supported by evidence. If we mention uptime, it should come from our own monitoring, not just provider marketing claims.
User First, Not Provider First
Editorial decisions should prioritize readers. If there is tension between affiliate incentives and honest guidance, we choose honesty.
Full Transparency
We aim to be open about methodology, revenue sources, and anything else that could influence how readers interpret our work.
Continuous Updates
Hosting changes quickly. Reviews, listings, and supporting data should be refreshed regularly instead of being left stale.
