Maybe you are already familiar with this hosting, because it is quite popular in Indonesia.

Jagoan Hosting was founded in 2007 and is part of PT Beon Intermedia.

Jagoan Hosting is a choice of cheap hosting which was built to serve entry-level customers who still want good quality hosting, but at a low price.

It has been 17 years since they were founded. They claim to have accompanied more than 160,000 customers, but there is no clear information on how many are still active today?

What Does Jago Hosting Do?

Jagoan Hosting is a provider that often revamps their website design. It's been countless times since I published the review since November 6 2018. Their client area or dashboard is also decorated with the dominant orange color, typical of their brand color. I was quite impressed with their seriousness in terms of design.

However, I don't see any information regarding a refresh on the hardware side. In 2023/2024, when I carried out an inspection of all the hardware specifications used by all the Indonesia hosting providers we reviewed, I found that the CPU, RAM and storage models used by Jagoan Hosting were not the best among all and were not among the newest.

First, on the test website (shared hosting package) that I used, they used an Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E3-1241 v3 @ 3.50GHz. This is [2014 CPU model. I made another new order in February 2024, and what processor do I get? Intel Xeon E5-2697 v2 which was released on September 10 2013. I think it's very outdated.

Using a processor that is around 10 years old, how does Jagoan Hosting perform and how does it compare with other providers that I reviewed?

In order to find out the answer, I have purchased the "IDOL" hosting package, then monitored uptime and load time (speed) + carried out load testing and tested the support service.

Advantages of Using Jagoan Hosting

We have to admit that they have more than 17 years of experience in the web hosting](/en/web-hosting/) industry, but can that experience of more than a decade be a certainty about the good server performance of Jagoan Hosting?

In my research over more than 3 years, I can confirm the answer is no.

Let's examine one by one the factors or causes. But, before getting into the causal factors, let's first look at the following advantages of Jagoan Hosting:

1. Average Server Response Time Speed which is quite fast in Load Testing

What is load testing?

In short, this test will show how the server responds when receiving many visitors simultaneously.

Simply put, you want your website speed to be the same fast both when receiving visits from 1 visitor and when receiving many visitors at once, right? Let's say there are 10 people online at the same time, 15 people or even 100 people at the same time.

How do you know that the server you are using can handle many users logging in simultaneously? Namely by utilizing a load testing tool, and the one I used in this test was Grafana K6.

With the help of load testing, I sent 20 virtual users who will navigate the Jagoan Hosting test website so you can find out whether their server can handle it or not.

The following is a graph of the test results (the test lasted 5 minutes.

• The blue line shows the average server response time (the lower the better)
• The gray line is the number of virtual users (the number will continue to increase from 0 until it stabilizes at 10 virtual users)
• The purple line shows the requests made (the higher the better).
• Red lines are failed requests

In this load testing test, I did not apply any optimization methods. The purpose of this test is purely to measure server performance without being influenced by external factors such as caching.

Ideally, server response times should remain stable. This means that there is no increase or decrease as the number of virtual users increases (see the blue line in the graph above). Unfortunately, without any optimization, especially on a shared hosting server, this is very difficult to achieve. Even so, we can look at the raw speed of each provider because this is the fairest way to compare them.

In this load testing test, Jagoan Hosting's average response time was 9,667 ms, which is still quite fast and ranked #3 out of the 6 providers I tested and there were no failed requests which is very good.

2. Hosting prices with a fair price structure and renewal prices are the same

Compared to all the cheap hosting options that we reviewed, Jagoan Hosting's price is the second cheapest and also the most expensive. There is a price increase of IDR 10,000 on their cheapest package, from IDR 15,000 to IDR 25,

1. However, the most different thing is that at Jagoan Hosting, the price will be the same even if you choose to pay for hosting quarterly. There are no marketing gimmicks, you will get the same price when you renew.

In addition, Jagoan Hosting already uses cPanel control panel, not DirectAdmin or Plesk. However, it should be noted that this cheap hosting plan uses the Nginx web server, not LiteSpeed ​​Enterprise which is considered the industry standard.

3. Has an automatic backup feature using Acronis Backup with many advantages

I'm sure there isn't a single hosting provider that provides an automatic backup feature like Jagoan Hosting. Your website will be backed up every day with a greater retention rate than other providers.

When I checked on July 17 2024, I found that my Jagoan Hosting test website had 16 backup files. Daily backups have retention for 14 days, there are also backups at the beginning of the month and backups 1 month ago.

Another advantage, this backup runs automatically. You can restore with just 1 click. I have tried it and the restore process was successful. The time needed to restore depends on how large your website files are. In the case of my website which is only 69MB in size, the restore process only took 3 minutes and 42 seconds.

Even better, this automatic backup feature is also available on their cheapest hosting package, namely the “IDOL” package. I think Jagoan Hosting really provides many features to its customers.

4. 30 Day Hosting Purchase Guarantee

Jagoan Hosting guarantees your hosting purchase for the first 30 days. I have read the provisions including things that void the guarantee and did not find anything that would complicate the refund request process later.

5. Free Hosting Migration and Free Domain for Certain Packages

Just like most other hosting services, Jagoan Hosting also offers hosting migration from your old hosting to their hosting for free.

Apart from that, they will give you a free .COM domain if you rent a minimum SUPERSTAR hosting package with a minimum duration of 1 year.

6. The cheapest package offers more than enough resources to create a new website

Jagoan Hosting has tutorial pages about domain, hosting, cPanel, even VPS and WordPress which are very useful especially for beginners.

Disadvantages of Using Jagoan Hosting

1. Poor Average Uptime

Uptime is the number one factor that you should always consider when choosing hosting, because this uptime has a direct impact on revenue.

I know that online marketing today is difficult and sometimes the success rate is no more than 5%.

These 5% are only people who you have managed to convince to see your website, aka not necessarily buying your product.

5% is not a big number.

So, if your website often cannot be accessed just because your hosting server experiences frequent downtime and for quite a long time, I think that is unacceptable.

You as a business person certainly want stable hosting, right?

That's why if a hosting provider fails to maintain server stability within the ideal time (average 99.9% / month), then I hesitate to recommend it to you.

So, what is Jagoan Hosting's average uptime?

The overall average is 98.833% (monitoring from February 2024 - September 2024) and this is the worst average uptime compared to the 5 other providers that I monitored.

2. Slow Support Service> We have not retested support for all hosting providers that we tested in 2025. Maybe it will be carried out in July 2025 (during the next Jagoan Hosting review update), so perhaps this support review cannot be used as a reference because there could be improvements made by Jagoan Hosting.

To find out how good Jagoan Hosting's support service is, I did a direct test. So far, six tests have been carried out, both via live chat and via tickets. The latest testing was carried out in July 2024. This support review is a bit long, so I divided it into six sections to make navigation easier.

3. There is a fine for data restoration fees if you are late in paying your hosting renewal bill

In article 4 paragraph 2 of the Jagoan Hosting Indonesia service rules, there is a provision stating that you will be subject to a fine of IDR 500,000 for restoring data caused by termination due to late payment of renewal.

• Use the familiar and user-friendly cPanel control panel

• Automatic backup with long retention (14 days)

However, there are two crucial things that need special attention:

Considering the importance of reliability and customer support in hosting services, I cannot recommend Jagoan Hosting at this time. Even though they offer competitive prices, the shortcomings in these vital aspects are too significant to ignore.
